Contiamo l’Italia, contiamo per il futuro

Istat, Italy’s national statistics office, turns a hundred this year and is marking it with an immersive show in the Sala Fontana: a century of the country counted, from the census ledgers to the data it publishes today. It is told in themed stories, games and visualisations rather than tables, so it is a better hour than it sounds — the numbers are how Italy changed, from farms to cities and from large families to small ones. Entry is free and it is closed on Mondays; go in from Via Milano, round the side of the palazzo.
