The Mexican muralist inside Rome’s oldest public museum, which is a stranger and better pairing than it sounds — Rivera came to Italy in 1920 to study exactly the fresco tradition these rooms are built on, then took it home and made it political. Go for the studies and the cartoons. Then walk out onto the Campidoglio terrace and look at the Forum, which is what he was looking at.
